Where it all began
Nestled in the Keisie Valley near Montagu, Soet Tand has been crafting traditional preserves
since 1986
Our Story

In the heart of the beautiful Keisie Valley near Montagu, Lekkerbek was founded in 1986 by a fruit farmer's wife, Surona de Kock. Inspired by the abundance of fruit grown on the family farm and a passion for preserving traditional recipes, she began crafting preserves that captured the true flavours of the Klein Karoo.
What started in a family kitchen has grown into one of South Africa's most respected preserve producers. Originally known as Lekkerbek, the business has evolved over more than 40 years into the Soet Tand brand. While the name has changed, our philosophy has remained the same: quality ingredients, traditional methods and handcrafted preserves made with care.
Today, Soet Tand produces more than 30 traditional jams and preserves and supplies farm stalls, delicatessens, retailers and export markets, while remaining proudly rooted in the valley where it all began.

A Fig Tree That Changed Everything
The story really began in October 1972 when Kowie de Kock was gifted a small fig tree cutting by Surona's uncle after picking the last figs from his tree.
Being a fruit farmer, Kowie wasn't interested in planting a fig tree that might attract fruit flies and tossed it aside when he returned home. By chance it landed beside the tap used daily by the milkman, where it took root and grew.
Fourteen years later, that forgotten tree produced the green figs that inspired the very first jars of preserve.
The Story Continues
From a forgotten fig tree to a family kitchen, this is only the beginning.
We look forward to sharing the next chapter with you soon.
